Welcome to the D.C.I.Y.C.
Website!
We are a community-based youth council affiliated with our local Boy's and Girl's Club and U.N.I.T.Y. (United National Indian Tribal Youth) in Northeast Oklahoma. We give interested American Indian youth a positive, culturally accurate learning environment. Through weekly meetings we teach American Indian drumming, singing, dancing, crafts, and a variety of other inter-tribal activities. We provide numerous cultural presentations throughout our four state area. Since 2001 we host an annual contest pow-wow in Jay, Oklahoma, awarding scholarships plus prize money. The adult Advisory Council and other adult volunteers strive to educate and empower our youth by expanding their cultural knowledge and, therefore, strengthening their identity.
